Memory Foam Beds or Visco Elastic Beds

Memory Foam MattressMemory foam or visco elastic foam has become established worldwide as an alternative filling for beds / mattresses. Memory foam is a springless visco-elastic material which allows the body to sink into it, with the foam moulding around the shape and contours of the body. When pressure is released, the material slowly recovers to its normal shape. A new sense of support and comfort is had with memory foam, however, it retains heat so it is less suitable for hot sleepers. Memory foam provides highly uniform support and distributing the body’s weight evenly. Moreover, it is usually hypoallergenic and it has orthopaedic properties which help with joints and posture, keeps the spine aligned when sleeping to one side. A disadvantage of memory foam is that it can be expensive. In addition, not everyone likes the sensation of lying on memory foam and it has a typically shorter lifespan than sprung.

Memory foam has the ability to conform to your unique body shape and weight. This comforting, body-hugging quality creates the sense that you are sleeping "in" your mattress and not just "on" it. Making you feel like your mattress was made just for you. Memory foam is polyurethane foam which has been altered to increase its viscosity and density. These alterations provide different reactions and for the purposes of explanation they can be characterised in one of two ways;

  1. High density memory foam, which softens in reaction to body heat, allowing it to mould to a warm body in a few minutes
  2. Low density memory foam, which softens quickly to the shape of a body pressing against it and returns to its original shape once pressure has been removed

The main draw back with memory foam is heat retention because of its density. Memory foam bed manufacturers work very hard to utilise the latest technologies to counteract the build-up of heat such as COOLMAX® fabric.

Memory foam or visco-elastic polyurethane foam is used in conjunction with other mattress fillings from other polyurethane foams to pocket springs.

We work with a variety of bed and mattress manufacturers to offer you the latest in innovations when it comes to memory foam – Octaspring, to the traditional bed manufacturer utilising visco elastic polyurethane foam in conjunction with pocket springs – Millbrook.

Our memory foam beds are incredibly affordable, so you are sure to find the perfect bed for your budget and requirements from us. We are passionate about continually providing our customers with the highest quality beds which are extremely competitive with our industry rivals.
